Don't you have to drain the tank in to smaller buckets to move it? I think the tank may be too heavy and dangerous to move with the 29 gallon of water. I think you should break down your tank and move it, then you'll have the chance to catch your wrasse... Goodluck with the move!

We are gonna break it down. But we when remove the rocks he will almost definatly hide. We moved a wrasse a while back and he kept burrying himself. Had to just run hand thru the sand. Just dont wanna stress him.

Any time I have had to move a wrasse, I tried to wait till night time and it was buried. If the wrasse is one that does not bury in sand to sleep, I have left a net in the tank for a few hours, fed the fish right above the net, and scooped out the fish while it was eating.

Also if moving the tank, are the rocks and sand coming out? If so, take your time taking them out and you may be able to easily catch the wrasse in open or low water.

Sadly, there will be stress involved with a wrasse when moving it, especially if they are skittish.

Also, when do you all plan to move the tank? If it is after we have the reef club meet, I can bring you some foam coolers to the meet to use for the move if you need them.

I've caught my 6 line 3-4 times this way.
Take a 16oz plastic pop bottle, cut the top off about the 1/3 point and invert it in the bottom part. Place some food in it and sink it in the tank. Mine swam in and cant get out. (he doesn't fall for it anymore though)

What kind of wrasse?

Are you wanting to reuse the same sand?
