Just barely made it and my plumbing is a tad to short which sucks either have to rase the pumps or extend the pipes

@Brew12 i have a question I have been messing around with my sump and I get”stung” every once in a while when I’m getting stung I whip out my volt meter and have as high as 18 volts Ac. If I remove my ground probe and put it back in it goes down to zero and stays there any idea? Also can DC pumps put AC voltage in the tank?

O here’s a picture for people that like it

That coral is awesome!

Its really odd that your ground probe would stop working. They are very simple devices. I would consider replacing it in case the wire has come detached from the probe and isn't making a good connection.

There are very few, and unlikely any, true DC motors used in this hobby. DC pumps are only called that because the AC is converted to DC and then back into a different AC wave form. So yes, all DC pumps can put AC voltage into your tank.

I think I was reading that anything below 25 volts is ok
What is ur thoughts on that?

I disagree. If a probe if functioning correctly, it should be 0 volts.
If you don't have a probe you can never be sure if even low voltage readings may be due to exposed copper dissolving in your system.

So if it is only happening some of the time (all of my equipment was running besides the night lights) how would I find out the root cause?

If you are seeing voltage with your ground probe in the system, I would start by replacing it.

Yes I do and I have two dedicated circuits strictly for the tank
You should be fine after replacing the ground probe then.

Actually, you have a meter that can read resistance, right? I would be tempted to check what the resistance is from the probe body to the ground prong that plugs into the wall. And see if it changes if the cord is pulled or twisted.

I'll take a stab at it...

Did you get an alk monitor?
