so I have a male blue thought trigger about 4" long fat and healthy. he gets feed 2x a day with my 5 tangs (2x yellow, purple, sail fin, scopes) there in a 150g display and for the last couple of days every once in a while he goes NUTS does a half a lap to a full lap swimming full speed at the top of the tank making all kinds of splashing noise then jets to the bottom of the tank does a 360 with his nose/face in the sand and then goes to his hiding spot for a min, after he acts like nothing happened......what the heck:neutral:

How long have you had him and have you added any fish recently?

Have you had any issues with ich lately? I have had fish act the same way then break out with ich.

he's been in there for over a month, and there was an ich problem about 3weeks back, but I treated the tank and have not seen any sign of it since.

Maybe he is half flasher wrasse? Blue throats are mischievous and will put quite a bit of effort into getting your attention. They will splash water over the edge when hungry etc. Maybe he is just acting out.

My Blue Throat acts out when he is hungry at times as well. He usually bites at the top of the water till I look over at him. He also darts across the tank from time to time to show other fish what he considers his territory in the tank. Perhaps with the other 4 large fish he is trying to show off in order to protect his hiding spot.
