My new frag station

It's still in the works but its getting there. Here is an in progress pic.

And I've just finished staining it.

I meant to take more pics of it while I went but didn't get around to it. The stand is for my 24x16x8 frag tank, there is a pull out work surface for fraging and what not. I still have to build the canopy for the tank that will house 24 3w cree LEDs. I'm waiting for the rest of my LEDs to arrive so that I can finish up the fixture. I'm hoping to have water in it by monday, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks guys. I will be applying three coats of spar urethane. I used the same stuff on my display stand and it has held up.

Good choice. That's going to be one killer of a frag tank by the time you're done.

I didnt notice the tapered edge the first time I looked at that pic on my iPhone. Is that for added stability?

Thanks. She's only 40lbs but I don't think she knows that. She lets everyone who comes to the house know that she's the boss. She's good though, the only person she's ever bit was my father-in-law and it was just a warning.

Here are a couple pics of the finished product.

Here is pic with the tank on it. This tank will be connected to my display and being that far away from the tank (about 2ft) the plumbing will be exposed. I will paint it the same color as the wall in hopes that it will blend in. If it doesn't look ok I will have to figure something else out.

All you need is a router table, a pocket screw jig, and some trial an error, lol.

A buddy of mine put in a couple on his stand, I thought it was such a good idea I stole it.

The trial and error is probably the biggest problem for us not so good DIYers lol...i could be on the stage for a while.

I got my tank from the same guy you did. I love it, but wish I had added starboard to protect the bottom of the tank. Might be worth looking in to to help protect such a nice tank. Are you worried about having the *** tank hooked up to the display tank? If one crashes they both do. meaning you lose everything instead of just one colony or some frags.

Duct tape is good in alot of hobbys but this is one where i dont think i would want to rely on it!

You're right it would be better to keep it separate from the display but at only 13 gal or so it would be difficult to keep it stable and I also didn't want the extra upkeep of another system. I may separate it at some point (probably at the pont where the exposed plumbing really starts to bother me).
