Hi guys , just thought I'd put up some pics of my nano reef tank as it is at the moment

And here's my happy mandarin, he lies on his back and eats brine shrimp from my turkey baster, I was amazed when I first saw him do it!!

It's a kent marine bio reef, it's 20 gallons (95 L) it's my first venture into marine reef keeping and I've fallen for the hobby big time !! The only problem I have at the moment is a bit of green hair algae but I intend to use some rowaphos to rectify that

Here are a couple more pics

Thanks! Yes my tailspot is a funny little guy to watch, he's got a great personality !
I rescued the mandarin from a local fish store that was shutting its marine section down, it's stomach looked really pinched and it was quite lethargic so I offered him £10 and he said yes so I took him home, I add pods to the tank every week which he eats but he also likes to be fed frozen garlic enriched brine shrimp with a turkey baster, he kinda lies down on his back and sucks them into his little mouth, he's been in the tank for about 10 weeks now and seems to have recovered well .

Great looking lil tank there with a very nice selection of fish and corals. With such a high bio-load you'll really need to keep up with the water changes to keep Nitrates and Phosphates in check. One suggestion would be to add a few cups of sugar sand to fill in the crushed coral substrate a bit. Even with adding all those pods which will consume a lot of the detritus this will help keep it in suspension to more easily be removed. I run a ultra high bio-load 125g (170g total volume) system myself and part of my long term success has been over skimming, LARGE refugium with mixed bed of macro algaes, Phosban reactor and Ozone to keep all in check.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks for the advice Todd. I do a weekly 30% water change and run activated carbon and my parameters stay pretty stable although my nitrates always stay around 10 ppm
