my upgrade journal/journey

Bring the salinity down a smidge, but otherwise I'd keep your nutes stable, as is. Don't chase numbers here. Unless things are too far out of whack, which they're not, let your system find equilibrium and it'll do it's thang, Boo-boo.
She's getting a small amount of Cyano possibly. Phosphates might need to lower some?

I probably should have read back more...

Yeah, then I would run gfo to gradually lower PO4. Manually remove and siphon out as much as possible and refrain from bringing the Algae reactor back on line so as to keep NO3 stable.

I think she shared it on the Smorgasbord, not on here as of the point you responded.

can you remove the nozzles and give quick scrub and peroxide soak

You could also do a citric acid soak and scrub. It'll dissolve any calcifying algae(s), too. Get two for one.

well this is what im concerned about. its just on the nozzles so far

I normally like to just take my dedicated tank cleaning toothbrush to the slots at the base of the nozzle (where the display water is sucked into the RFG)! — if the slots clog, you loose the RFG mixing effect!

btw happy new year guys!!
hey there @UncommonSense ! hows the hexagon tank?
Happy new years indeed!!

The ol’ hexagon’s putting right along… I’ve got plenty of deferred maintenance to do, but it has been remarkably tolerant of neglect so far, and bounces back to looking decent with minimal attention!

Here’s how it sits without any inputs besides feeding in at least two weeks:

image.jpg

— I do have a BTA which has taken a liking to the center overflow and does laps around it now… that’s been interesting!

— A DIY all (scrap) acrylic lighting array frame is nearly complete; 10-12mm acrylic, 2+” thick when including “anti-sag” acrylic beams… waiting on WeldOn to cure for the next batch of parts to be added…

(Better photos once that’s all done and lights are mounted…)

— my LFS got in a beautiful male Carpenter’s wrasse, which I couldn’t say no to, despite the tank being a tad small… (Its become excellent motivation to get moving on the FrankenReefer 450 build!)

2026 promises to be a very interesting, and productive year! — a quarter of the way done with the century!

Why thank you!

Ah, yes… wrasses are very efficient little predators! — I actually had a pair Mandarins in this tank for years, long ago… I opted for a something a bit more active in the mid-upper water column this time around!

(An interesting side-effect is that the new wrasse seems to bring the clowns and others that usually hide near rockwork out into the open upper water column regularly!)

well got the tank home! now to figure out how to get it out of the van! lol
Me and my best buds unloaded my glass cages 156 on cigar and bourbon night. Before the pouring of course.
