No personal experience Steve, but I'd like to follow along to hopefully learn something about their removal.

I've tried pulling them scrubbing with a brush kalk paste works so so. Worse things I've gotten from a frag by far. Wished I'd known beforehand what they where n I'd tossed the frag out but they're taking over and killed off lots of corals already sadly. I've been so frustrated I've considered getting out because I don't want a tank of just the black plague of reefing. I Bayer dip and tried h2o2 dip before it spread. Also limited lights to few hours a day done multiple blackouts for up to a full 8 days. I'm about to pull a Elvis and shoot the dang tank instead of a tv lol.

When you disturb them, do they withdraw into little flexible tubes?

Sorry, I missed where you said that it wasn't your pic. The hydroids in the picture have stalks that look a little big to be Myrionema amboinense, which are often called Pom Pom hydroids because of there small stalks and bushy round heads.

Ohhhhh yaaaaaaa! THOSE are myrionema! They are different from what's in the first picture. Yours are a pain in the booty because they are photosynthetic.

I honestly don't know about treatments and perhaps Twil can get you going with suggestions. These are different and they are a total pain, because even if you restrict the diet 100% they can live with the light in your tank. I don't typically treat hydroids with medications, but this variety demands a little different approach.

Does anyone know if these guys handle being .... mauled? A lot of varieties don't actually handle being messed with all the time. It's how I got rid of a colony. I took the end of a ruler and kind of combed through it/batted at it every couple of days. Structurally they can be a little niche. They are not like aiptasia, in that when you mess with them they get everywhere.
