From Hunters article "All about reef safe wrasses in aquaria"

"There are two exceptions to mixing wrasses which must always be avoided: 1) various species of wrasses of the genus Pseudocheilinus should not be mixed in the same system. In fact, Pseudocheilinus wrasses should be outright avoided if you desire multiple wrasses at all. And 2) caution should be expressed when mixing various species within the Macropharyngodon genus, especially two males. The bigger your tank, the more likely you will be successful here."

What size tank do you have?

Definitely use an acclimation box if you try to add another wrasse.

Exactly, I’d strongly advise against other wrasse with these guys, they get very very nasty. They can decide overnight to kill their wrasse tankmates. As they grow larger they seem to get significantly more aggressive.

In addition, these wrasses are not truly reef safe. Many of them make snacks out of shrimp (including cleaner shrimp). So if you have shrimp and inverts it will definitely go for them.

I have a 150. Looks like I will have to get rid of it. Shame since it is so nice.

Wow. I have a 150g reef tank with multiple wrasses. Never had any problems with my Mystery wrasse. I just keep different species. I even have harlequins and no problems.
