Hello world,
I discovered an unfamiliar snail in my tank and require assistance in identifying it, particularly to determine if it is beneficial or harmful. I have owned the tank for approximately four months and have never intentionally introduced any snails into it. The only possible way this snail could have entered is through the live rock I acquired when starting my tank. Interestingly, I had never seen this snail before today when the tank lights were off due to a power outage, leading me to believe that it only emerges when the lights are off.
Unfortunately, I was unable to capture another picture as the snail quickly disappeared after I turned on the light. However, I have attached the only picture I managed to take. From what I observed, the snail appeared to have a flat shell and measured approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches in size.
