Had the tank for over a month now. I know I’m in the ugly stage now but looking for some help on removing this algae and keeping it gone I know it’s not easy lol. I have been doing 20% water changes every couple weeks. Attempted physical removal and still working on that.

Currently have: two clown, watchman goby, pistol shrimp and a couple bumblebee snails, Astrea snails, blue legged hermits and an emerald crab. GSP, Duncan and Xenia.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also forgot to mention the light it’s typically on no more than 8 hours. I did a three day black out a week ago and had no luck. Light is approx 14 inches above the water surface.

To me, green algae on the sand is often a sign of low flow, what do you have for flow in the tank? Water changes every couple of weeks is insufficient, it should be weekly. Are you using rodi or tap water? What do you have for clean up crew in the tank?
