Need help with UV plumbing

What’s up Reefers! Need some help or ideas on how to plumb my 25 watt UV for my 120. As you can see in the pic, the last section of the manifold was supposed to be for the UV but as I kept reading (ofcourse after I had plumbed everything) I discovered that it probably wouldn’t work when it comes to having the closed loop system. My initial idea was to run all the reactors and UV off of one return pump (sicce syncra 7.0) but now I’m assuming I might have to get a second pump for the UV. Any guidance anyone can give would definitely be appreciated. Thanks again!

There shouldn't be a problem running on the manifold imo.
It feeding back into the sump (which I assume is the problem) will only marginally reduce efficacy at best (proper flow rates for intended purpose would matter more)

Just for further understanding on my part, are you by chance referring to your manifold from your return as a closed loop or is there an actual closed loop (not visible to me) in addition to your manifold from your return?
 
I would get a separate pump to run it, you'll be able to control the flow better.

Your assumption is correct lol. Everything I read tells me the most efficient way is to have the output go directly to the dt and not back into the sump. Which has me a bit confused because the reactors do just that and my parameters are stable, so why wouldn’t the UV be the same as long as I have the proper flow?

And yes I was referring to the loop from the manifold to the return

Thanks! I was thinking about it but I was reading the return pump I have will be sufficient for the entire setup so I was wondering if instead of spending on the pump I could invest that money into my RODI system

Flow for the UV matters. For example, even with the UV running 24/7 from basically inception, I still had a dino outbreak. I hooked up a separate pump to it at 250-300 GPH, cleared everything up within 3 days.

My manifold could only get about 80 GPH (on a 170G tank) no matter how much I ran through the main. If you can get enough flow off the manifold...sure go for it. You are going to want to be able to get at least 2-3 times turnover. Higher for some applications. Check first. Could be fine but I personally don't enjoy iterative plumbing, do it right the first time.

I completely agree with doing it right the first time. I just might bite the bullet and purchase a pump. I could possibly need that last valve for something in the future.

I would personally invest that money into the rodi system assuming you don't have one at all. You'll definitely solve and prevent a lot more headaches with one than you ever could with a separate pump feeding a UV just to achieve a higher turn over rate.

There's no way a UV even oversized and at the proper flow rate could ever truly solve problems that are being fed by terrible source water.

One other thing you can consider as well is just running the UV off your existing manifold for the time being and purchase a decent gph+as inexpensive as possible pump later on (if deemed necessary) since it's neither the primary return, nor in need of high head pressure due to it only feeding the UV.

I'm a big fan of dual return pumps where viable (and financially reasonable for you) but I'm not a fan of getting extra pumps to just run extra equipment
 
That’s what I was planning on doing but I kept reading that if I run the inlet through the manifold and the outlet back in the return area that I basically wont be doing anything with the uv and it’s a waste of time (which I don’t understand because as long as I have the correct flow it should do the same as the reactors I have hanging)
