Need some advice on a lens....

Here's an example of using the right aperture to get the right depth of field, i.e., the subject of interest is in focus and the background blurred to eliminate elements that detract from the subject of interest. Shot with a Canon 7D, Sigma EX180 macro lens. Settings: 1/60 sec. @ f/18, ISO 400, remote flash, tripod, remote release.
