Neptune DOS head repair

Has anyone done this? The tubing is compromised and there is moisture in the unit. The head replacement can’t be found anywhere and Neptune Support is not answering their phones. Really just wondering what tubing others have used if they’ve replaced this on their own? I’m sure it’s silicone, but I’m unaware of how soft and what ID would be best.

Best rather than phone is to open a ticket with Neptune

Are you wanting to just replace the peristaltic tube and keep the roller assembly?

Normally that entire assembly needs to be replaced as a unit. I assume it's due to eventual wear of the rollers.


However, what is a habby if you can't cut corners to save a buck? The tube they use is PharMed 1/4" OD with 1/16" wall thickness (1/8" ID)

I purchase it from US plastics dot com. But I'm sure you can find it elsewhere.

I just ordered two, the piece price is good, the shipping was a little steep, but all in only about $10 more than BRS and in-stock. I will confirm fitment when they arrive and report back.

I ordered 2 rollers from avast and shipping all less than $25 usd.
The hose and rollers is what wears out.

Do you have a picture of the Avast parts, there is nothing on there web site. Is the "roller" just the cylindrical roller, or the roller assembly with the center drive part? Would just like to know for future rebuilds.

The issue with these heads is they are barb fitting and I use push fittings for mine. Push fittings will not work with these heads

I also ordered some hose. Hope it works well, haven't tried it yet.

Also, need to cut some of that barb off so they fit on better.

Yes 100% for the Neptune head but not for the head the other person posted aftermarket was barb and no threads for those fitting to screw on to

He could just swap the fitting over. Looks like they fit in the housing the same way.

Found about 6 different places that had them in stock. Just have to dig a little deeper then the BRS, and SWA.com.

Never switched mine over to push fit connections, just pushed the RO/DI tube onto the normal nipple, and tightened the nut. Hasn't leaked in 4 head replacements, and 6 years of use.

The housing doesn't go bad, it's the roller assembly and hose. Roller assembly is $10. I forget what I paid for the hose. I think it was 5ft for $20? That will last me longer than the whole unit I suspect. The only other thing needed is small zip ties which are extremely cheap. This can be rebuilt and in about 10 minutes.

That was one of the original selling points of the DOS.

You can change the entire head in like 20 seconds.

I get doing it cheaper, and DIY(trust me I do 99% DIY), but for something like this, I just find it easier to snap on a completely new head.

Well for $70 you can replace both heads.
For my $70 and 10 minutes, I will replace both heads and take my wife out for a nice lunch. ;)

No I get it, I just find it easier to snap on a new head for the price.
