New 150g

Well I’m moving and starting a new tank because when you move it’s mandatory to start a new one. Everyone knows that. Ive only started stocking up for the new tank not up and running yet.

What I have so far-

Tank - made by zero edge 5x2x2 150g island overflow for 360 degree viewing.

Trigger emerald 34 sump

AquaFx FC-180 skimmer

AWC Auto water change and ATO

X2 324 watt 48 inch full spectrum Leds

2 40g breeders for QT.

Still to buy-

Two gyres (probably 250s) thinking about mounting them vertical on the dry chamber of my overflow to create a whirl pool since the fish can circle the tank.

Return pump- I don’t know yet vectra not getting the greatest reviews. Doesn’t need to be big, tank only has a single 1 inch drain.

Adding 4 additional 48 inch 54w T5 bulbs I don’t know what fixture they will be in, whatever is cheap. Thinking coral plus and purple plus combos. I like the purple look.

For my rock I’m going to try the caribsea shapes rock along with some standard base rock. I also thought about placing a package order of 40 pounds from TBS to seed the tank.

Anyways this starts off the build, more to come soon.

still coming together, bought a gyre and controller, 100lbs of dry rock from Billy’s reef connection. Great deal there. Next week hopefully finish moving and I’ll get the tank up and running.

Buying the 30g “package” from TBS for a quick cycle.

I like the idea of using the Gyre to create laminar flow around the tank to give the fish a directional "stream" to swim in. Using two on either side of the overflow and having them reverse every so often would look really neat!

Well we closed on the new house the 23rd of March they said they would be out by the 13th and I haven’t heard from them [emoji848]. I ended up getting reef octopus return pump and two 250 gyres.

I have everything I need to set up except my house. Worst case scenario is a couple more weeks. More to come soon.

So I know this isn’t your classy living room set up but this is still pretty cool for me. my new home has a detached 1000 sq ft garage and I’ve decide to put my tank out there since that’s where I’m going to be spending most of my time. The garage has heat and running water. Tank is almost done cycling I’m placing an order with TBS this week sometime.

Ordered the package from TBS at 3pm today and just picked it up at the airport. Florida to Indiana to my tank in less than 8 hours can’t beat that!

First two fish in QT, purple tang has some weird marks not sure if it’s HLLE or what. They both ate pellets on day 1 and they are both fat and appear to be healthy, I Have high hopes. Dosed prazi today.

Clown tang is eating grape caulerpa macro algae today which is fantastic I have a 40g breeder full of it.

From a ball of chaeto in a refugium I’ve been maintaining for a couple years. I didn’t even shake the chaeto just set it in there for a sec. so many amphipods.

Definitely turning into a dream man cave! I ultimately plan s something like this but currently have no heat or water run to my garage until I have the time to get around to finishing it. It's turning out great! Definitely update us on the progress!
