new 57 rimless tank

Well I got a oceanic illumanata 57 gallon tank I wanted to have something in my man cave beside junk and a 29 gallon so I got this tank I am going for a clean look and no wires hanging over the tank or plumbing......
for equipment list see below

rimless tank 3'x18"x21"
50 gallon sump 3'x18"x20 I believe
1 250 watt halide I will test a few bulbs 10k 14k and 20k to see which one I like best as it will be alot of blue.....

diy leds for supplement lights going for 32 x 1w LEDS for this on and off dimmable diy set up I have a buddy out here who is building circuit boards for controlling the lights neat little feature.....

DIY stand with the help from my neighbor as I cannot cut a straight line to save my life. stand will be over built say 6ft long height 32 tall and say 24-30" wide inches tall keep my neice and nephew hands out of it.as I want to place things on the stand when feeding and what not as I will not have the space to place on the top of the tank. and to also hold additives and equipment...

bare bottom vs sand not sure yet..I love the sand look but hate the sand shifters to keep it nice and white.

Marco rock going to order 2 40lb boxes and do the aquascaping right this time. I will take my time and do it nice. hoping to go over the top with it. although I know I will fail I have little patients with things like this.... main goal is to hide the over flow mainly and have plenty of flow on the floor for less basting to get waste suspended to be sucked up by the skimmer.......

and LED lighting for the fuge aka macro section... these will be red white and blue lights for all the colors and plants love the reds from my understanding....

as for live stock fish I am wondering I would like to have a schoal of fish and anything but chromis

clowns 2 as I will have leathers in the tank over Nems

and I will keep swapping out tangs yellow as they are the slowest growers IME. 240 is in the garage they will go in thier once too big for this tank.


corals mixed SPS dom LPS and Some softies. I have a shroom that is looking to have some good potential right now as it keeps coloring up and does not spread like wild fire.

Sweet set up you got there! Looking forward to your build. 80 pounds of rocks are plenty and might be more than enough IMO. I got 50 pounds and I think it's too much for my tank.

yeah most of the rock will be in the sump I want a empty but still clean look i plan to take alot of time and not rush it like all my other tanks. my daughter and I were sketching some Ideas for aquascape last night I have a few extra tunze magents so I may use them to hold rock on the back wall to come down like a stair way to the middle of the tank. just Ideas I have been coming up with not sure how to do it but with marco rock I do not have to worry about it drying on me lol and not this band saw I can cut the bottoms to be flat if I do place on the floorI have been running Ideas in my brain as in cutting the bottoms off the rocks like stated earlier and use a hole saw to drill little grooves to place PVC to hold off the glass and keep from breaking.

glueing rocks to the over flow and epoxy with sand to cover it up.

another is build the rock over the over flow in the middle leaving a gap then have the return trickle down the rock back to the tank main issue their is flow and adjusting it. to still produce flow and yet not be a Algea Scrubber as I would hate to clean Algea off of the rock every other week.

I just bought the Deep Blue Pro Edge, looks simular to yours. I'll be keeping a watch on your thread for ideas-

I see your doing the MP40, I'm doing 2 MP10 ES-Ws. I'm gonna go bare bottom so it will be good to see a lot of water movement ;)
