New CPR cs102 overflow

Wanted to "test" the overflow box and the air pump before starting my basement sump mod. Has anyone seen this kind of pump and how it works? I tried connecting the airline tubing to the small dimple on pump. Then submerged into the overflow box. It does nothing but make noise. Either I'm really confused and not too bright or it came broken? Help please

looks like the pump is used to keep the siphon; connect it again and fill both sides of the overflow with water and it should pull up the difference. Its probably not strong enough to suck the water over if it isn’t primed.

So suck all the air out by mouth first to get it flowing, and then hook it up? I had both sides of overflow box filled to top of stand tubes. Hooked up pump while adding water with sink to inlet side of overflow. Nothing

sounds like it isn’t doing what it should. I haven’t used this type of pump but recognize the concept. I used to use a diaphragm pump that sat on top of the overflow and it would keep the siphon between the front and back of the overflow.

I’ve used overflows that had a powerhead that did the same thing

Yeah I may just have to buy a different pump. Hoping for the most quiet. Any recommendations?

Well, the original one I used was an “aqualifter” but they are no longer built. i used this as an alternative but noise wasn’t a consideration.

Says out of stock. I'll have to look elsewhere. Do you have any experience with these kind of diaphragm pumps? Quiet? Are the fully submersible? Thank you

They quit making those. I still have one.

I've never been a fan of the overflows that require a pump. I ran eshops hob overflows for years on a 150g and 180g and never lost a syphon even when the return pumps were off. I started with a cpr but didn't keep it long

Well I'm pretty much stuck with it now after spending like 260$. It came highly recommended by others so idk

An alternative to that diaphragm pump is running a powerhead that has an air intake on the flow. Something like this pic- put the powerhead where you need flow and attach the end of the tubing to the overflow. The powerhead should create enough to keep the siphon. This powerhead option is definitely quieter than an aqualifter.

Note: the siphon is technically not needed, it’s a failsafe.

Looks like maybe one of the maxijet 1200s. I have a few here from when they were cobalt branded. They have all kinds of uses.
