New DIY Two Part Recipes with Higher pH Boost

@Randy Holmes-Farley on the high pH hydroxide recipe, will BPT tubes survive longer? ive tried different tubes but they all have been geting holes really fast, what is the ideal material (is it PE?) and what could be some safe/good alternatives? all i could find over here in brazil is silicone and ive been changing it frequently, but i want to import some better tubing and just wanna be sure about it

Yes, that tubing gets an A rating in 25% sodium hydroxide, which is higher purchase the dosing solution.

I am using alk part this recipe actively for two years and I am happy with it. However, I mixed a quick batch to top of my dosing liquids and this time the solution did not clear up. In the past I did mix a batch with the same sodium hydroxide and sulfate and it used to clear up. I also mixed another batch to see if that would clear up and it did not clear up as well. Is it okay to use if it does not clear up and why could that have happened? Btw I did 1/4 batch so 70.7 g of NaOH and 17.18g of Sulfate in 9.5 liters of water.

You certain it was sodium sulfate, not calcium or magnesium sulfate?

Maybe one of the products had some impurities in it.

It should of stayed clear.

Could you point me in right direction where you got these from? And will it be same grams per gallon
Many thx

The person you are asking has not been on it over a year. ACS reagent is a purity grade, not a brand. Many companies sell all sorts of products with ACS grading.

Amazon sells many.

Which exact product are you looking for? Calcium chloride?

Link doesn't work.

If a material does not give a grade, it hasn't done to testing to meet that grade and thereby represents some risk.

The best choices at a reasonable price can be food grades, but pharma grades such as USP and ACS reagent grades are all good.

If I use MgCl chloride anhydrous I have to use 122.33g instead of 261.2g of MgCl hexahydrate right. I have some of these powder and it burn like hell when I try to wash it off my hands.

Yes, that’s correct. :)
