New EVO 5G

Hi everyone. I have been wanting a saltwater tank for years and when I saw the evo 5 I decided to finally start. It's been up since the last week in Dec 2016 and I couldn't enjoy it more! I have an assortment of mostly soft corals (GSP, frogspawn, palythoas, zoas, finger leather and green line mushrooms), a CUC (some snails, a couple of hermit crabs and a red starfish and a fire shrimp) and 3 small fish. It's the stock evo 5 kit but I did change the light to an Orbit IC led setup. I do a 20% water change every other week and I feed it roti feast in the morning and flake food in the evening. Because I am new to the hobby and tips or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Top off with rodi water whenever there is the slightest drop/ evap of the water and always try to quarantine ur fish. I learned the hard way and lost a fish and my lfs is treating the other 2 from my 10g. If u have any other questions on anything just ask me.

Thanks Brett. I am sure that's important with a small system as I am learning that water quality can change very rapidly with a nano system. I keep a bottle of ro water on hand and I use the marking on the left side to gauge the water level. Appreciate your help and I'm sure I will have some other questions eventually. Thanks again.

No problem. Good luck. I started my 10g nano about 1month and a half ago. I already lost a clownfish to brook (clownfish disease) and my other clownfish and firefish were also affected. My local fish store who I bought everything from is currently treating the 2 survivors. They both are pretty much fully recovered after not even 2 weeks of qt with copper. This was my first saltwater tank and I do not recommend and under a 30g for a beginner. I'm saving for a 70 or 90g tank now.

The guys at my lfs won't sell me fish. They want me to keep it simple and easy and just do corals and invertebrates. I have had to go to places where they don't know me haha. I managed to get 2 little gobies and a damsel in there. I'm not sure about neon gobie but I don't think I could ever get him out of there. Too fast and too many places to hide.

That's BS that they won't sell u a fish. Nice job with they fish though.

Be sure to watch your bioload if you have 3 fish in there already. I don't know what gobies or damsel you got but as the fish grow their bioload will as well so more frequent water changes may be necessary to keep the parameters in check.

Thanks money88. I'm doing about 20% change every week to 2 weeks and I just got a KH test kit and a D-D refractometer. I just added 2 new corals and everything looks pretty good.
