I have been out of saltwater for over 15 years. Getting back into it. I just bought a used 210 gallon reef tank. Will be bringing home this Saturday. Any recommendation?

The tank has a 50 gallon sump with protein skimmer, and T5 lighting. I'm buying new sand and changing about 70 gallons of water once I get it home. All live rocks and about a dozen of fish. A few corrals and some clean up crew. Looking to get a chiller and a UV light on Sunday. Also looking at buying a controller and a dozing unit.

How long should the light stay on for? What type of controller and dozing unit should I buy?

Very exciting!!
Tell us more about the current equipment. You may simply be able to add to your T5 unit.
I've used BRS dosing pumps for about three years now with great results.

Welcome to R2R, and welcome back to reefing.
I would go with the Apex controller and go with the Apex. I have use the Jaboa doser and the work very well for my dosing.
Light from 10 to 12 hours, I run LED only and I am very happy with my Hydra 26 hd's. I have seen a few member using a combination of LED and T's. What is the dimensions of your tank.

Once I get it home, then I would know more about the current equipment. My first step is moving this tank 25 miles to my house and resetting it back up without damaging the corals and stressing out the fish.

Start making RO\DI water early! Store as much as you can, and more than you think you will need.

Welcome back to the wet side! APEX is the way to go for controllers. LEDs are very mature now and are reasonably priced for light output, a hybrid system is also an option. I use an AquaMedic dosser and it's be rock solid for many years, BRS dossers are very good and reliable as well. Keep us updated:)

I already have about 45 G of Ro/DI water with salt mixed in last night. Going to buy another 40 G of LPS already mix salt water. Plan on using the rest of the water from the tank. Is that ok?

I'de have full volume ready to go just in case. You'll be almost restarting a new tank, so water changes will be coming....

I would test for ammonia. As soon as you get a hint of a color change (indicating ammonia spike) I would perform a 10% change. You'll be using the same rock and some of the water so their should be bacteria present. This won't be the same as a 'new tank,' but I suspect you'll have some ammonia early-on.

Test daily!

Just got my water tested yesterday.
NO2 = 80
KH = 10
CAL = 420
Salt = 1.023
High on NO2. Any recommendation to get NO2 down? Just added a calcium reactor last night. Going to add a 1/3 HP chiller, 40W UV light and a carbon reactor by this weekend.
My question is that there is a small pump running the UV light, can I run the outflow of the UV into the inflow of the chiller?

If there's enough flow you can run it in line like that, no2 is the cycle working through water changes will lower it, but you do need some to finish out the cycle.
