The journey started back in February when I pre-ordered the new S-1000 for our new home. It was delivered to my LFS back in July, and the house was finished late in October. Throughout the year, I've been working on acquiring and building various pieces of the puzzle.

The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight, and as such I'm starting this thread!

Equipment:

Reefer S-1000
Lighting - 3x Philips Coral Care Gen 2
Return Pumps - 2 x Sicce SDC 9.0
UV/Carbon/GFO Loop Pump - Sicce SDC 9.0
UV - AquaUV 40W
Circulation - 2x MP40, 1x MP60
Skimmer - Reef Octopus
Heater - Helio PTC 1000W
CalcRX - Geos Reef CR612X2
CalRX Pump - Kamoer FX-STP Wifi
BRS Jumbo Carbon Reactor
BRS Jumbo GFO Reactor
Trident/APEX/Misc. APEX equipment
DOS for Auto Water Change/Grow for Fuge Light
Reefmat 1200

Rock - CaribSea Liferock
Sand - CaribSea Fiji Pink

I started with building out the lights using 80/20 and misc. hardware from McMaster while we were still living in our apartment...

Then the tank arrived...

The glass is still at my LFS and will be delivered in a week or so, but I took the stand home to build out at the apartment...

We moved in October, had the room painted, and I began the final mock-up. A significant amount of infrastructure will be in the garage which is directly behind the tank. Currently there are two 165 gallon vertical tanks for make-up, a 40 breeder for observation/quarantine, the UV, and a bunch of tubing. Garage pics to come.

The room has been a mess, but it has been a lot of fun...

I also built out the closet to accommodate all my fish stuff...

Transfering from current tank a yellow tang, juvenile Hippo, coral beauty, royal gramma, and juvenile engineer goby... I'm thinking 5-7 anthias, convict tang, Richmond wrasse (possibly other wrasse?), and hopefully an orange shoulder for the centerpiece fish. Maybe a second engineer goby. Debating if the tank is large enough for the orange shoulder. I may expand from there. Would love a Moorish Idol and/or gem tang. Tank will be LPS/softie, and have a lot of inverts as well.

Sounds awesome! I haven’t seen a Richmond’s wrasse in a while, very cool if you can get one.

Congrats on the new house btw!

Thanks! What other wrasse would you do? There's so many to choose from.

I've been working at building out the garage... Pics/more detail to come. Hoping to receive the glass this weekend!

The garage will contain:

Mixing station/RODI
40 Watt UV
CalcRX and Pump
GFO and Carbon Reactors
DOS for auto water change
40 breeder for observation/frags etc.
Fluval evo 13.5 for emergency/quarantine.

The 40 gallon breeder will receive the daily 3 gallon water change from the main display which will cause it to overflow to the adjacent slop sink. It will have a single Radion XR15. Debating if I want to keep sand in this tank or not, or if I will need a filter considering the low bio load and ~10% daily water change. Input appreciated!

As for the current Reefer 350... planning to convert it back to its origin as a planted freshwater tank either jungle style or peninsula.

The glass was delivered this past Sunday. My friend and I were playing around with the scape yesterday, and I've spent a good amount of time preemptively programming my Apex. Almost there!!

lol! I have been playing with the lights a lot over the past few days... finally got the playing nice with APEX. I love them so far, the scale of them matches the tank nicely.

I cant wait to see how they look with water in the tank... I have a PAR meter to test them out as well. I'll post some photos/PAR readings once I cross that road.

Ya wish i could find a LFS that had most of these lights on display so you get an idea of what you want.. Cant wait to see what your par is looking like In certain parts of the tank..

Finished scaping this week and starting to fill her up today! Going to work on the screen top later this evening.

The scape looks like a wall of rocks from afar, but it is actually very open. The back of the tank is free of rocks except for one small location on the right side of the overflow.

how are you setting up your sump?
Sump is pretty normal I'd say... im waiting on my last pump to be delivered so I can tidy it up and post pics.

Following flow...

No socks, using media cups filled with Matrix topped with poly fill, which I will throw away regularly. The first chamber is currently empty, undecided if I want to spend the money on more ceramic media, leave it open, or add more rock. The detached portion is set up to be a fuge and also contains my heaters (power cables weren't long enough to make it to the previous chamber where I had wanted to keep them).

Next chamber houses skimmer and will house the pump I'm waiting on which will circulate through UV/reactor loop in the garage. Return chamber has two pumps, one for each side, and the return from the UV/reactor loop, plus ATO.

Side note. I took some preliminary PAR readings today at peak lighting... 400 at top left of rocks, 350 at top right, 200 on the sand. Stoked on these lights!

Got my screen top finished... such a pain. Most of my fish and coral have been transferred from the 350. I'll try to get some full tank shots later this week. Happy new year everyone!
