Self-contained, external algae scrubber. Top slides off, similar to the Slip 0.7, exposing dual lights on either side. The front panel pulls out, allowing for harvest of turf algae. Likely with one or more screens (Green Grabber) inside. Water is fed from the top, waterfall-style, with a return pump located at the bottom to send water back to the tank, either to the sump or to the display tank, designed to be usable for either AIO or sumped tanks. As per other Santa Monica filters, no water pump/air pump is included, allowing the end user to choose their own pump for customized flow through the filter. Lights are likely the GEM5 or a new variant.

Materials... likely the same 3D printed ABS used in other Santa Monica filters. Likely offered in 3-4 sizes - I'm going to guess the model numbers would be EXT2, EXT4, EXT8. Pricing... probably $450 for EXT2, $1100 for EXT4, $2500 for EXT8.

If I win, I'd use it on my Tsunami 90g tank. Sure, I already have a SURF2 in there but nothing wrong with overdoing it.

I would use it on my frag tank, a Home Depot bin. There is no plumbing or aio chamber. I have a surf2 floating but would love to have something external to free up space. The surf2 is the primary filtration on this tank, there is only a small 3-4lb piece of live rock. Bare bottom. No skimmer.

Looks like a type of rain scrubber used for saltwater aquariums placed in sump , looks like it holds more lights than the rain 4 and may be easier to access the growth screens.

a new slim-profile submersible upflow algae scrubber. Probably your evolution of the DROP series? Function: air-driven upflow (we provide the air pump) tumbles sump water past growth surfaces lit by red LEDs. Fully underwater so it can't overflow. Beveled top cap that acts as a bubble/splash deflector and directs escaping air out a top slot. Placement: designed to fit narrow sump chambers where a standard DROP won't. Maybe multiple sizes for tanks up to ~50g and ~90g. Color/Material: Matte black, ABS

My first guess is that it's a bigger version of the slip, with strands or grates inside and the rough surface used in your other algae scrubbers. More like a traditional canister filter where it can remain outside on the floor. It opens up from the top where you can pull out the assembly with grate attached and clean the internals. Second guess is that it's like a waterfall scrubber with the similar white sharp plastic inside and grates/strands used for surface area. The lip in the front is the outflow. Unofficial third guess is that it's a middle point between the largest and second largest drop but I feel like the HOB fulfills that role in your line up.

an upgrade to your drop 10 scrubber. Water proof led light is on the side and between the 2 screens. Internal pump will push water to the top of unit. You have 2 of the screens vertically positioned with flow coming out from bottom. Instead of air pump, you are using a venturi on internal pump to draw in air (via tubing to top of unit) to aerate the algae/water.

this unit sticks to your overflow with the top housing having a big square for water in, while the back side has the outlet. Can be in an AIO chamber. Inside has a single weir wall that allows downflow and then upflow of water.

a submersible algea scrubber. Light on top, return spout on the side, intake from the bottom.

Should be placed right after the filter sock chamber. It is designed so that the water cascades through it and if it becomes clogged or the sump flow is too high, the excess water will simply flow over it on top. In other words, it has a certain filtration capacity, and higher flow should not be a problem because any excess water will just bypass it.

Standalone turf scrubber.. it sits in a sump or similiar, all you do is give it some air for upflow.

it pulls flow in through the bottom because of the notches cut out on the bottom. Those notches would allow flow in case it comes in contact with a flat surface. I'm guessing internally it's designed to be used as filtration. The overflow at the top supports the idea that it's bottom fed for flow. I also believe it'd be a great design to incorporate a light vertically and a have stable mesh surround for nutrient control. I could see this used for specific applications like being placed in an all in one chamber or stand alone in a sump.

Water is piped in through the top where it runs through a series of baffles and then back up where it exits the front top similar to an HOB skimmer or fuge. I'm thinking it's a Santa Monica UV - not an ATS.

I would for sure use it on my M70 in place of my filter sock or on my filter sock!

If it's not a UV, it's definitely going to be a combination upflow/downflow algae scrubber. Water enters through the top back section runs through and down the first side, then under a weir and back up the front side exiting through the top front. Both front and back panels have lights as does the middle partition. I still think it replaces a 7" filter sock. The side is removable for clearing the algae growth. Since it's powered by the water from the sump, simply lift the scrubber out of the bracket, remove the side with the attached "algae grabber" plates and rinse, reinstall, repeat!
