Just thought I would share my new stand and canopy for my 150 cube. The original stand and canopy were great quality but, left me little room for any maintenance under the tank and were on the short side. The tank was only 27" off the floor. I looked at possibly building a riser and other options but settled on just re doing the whole thing. The new stand is 41" tall, has a 6" drink rail on three sides of the tank. And with the canopy I decided to hinge it from the wall where the whole thing would lift up making things easier to work in the tank. Enough talk I know everyone likes pictures better!

So the next part there aren't many pictures as we were pretty busy. Set up some totes and started removing water. I left about 20 gallons of water and all the livestock and rock in the tank. Undone the unions for the piping and still took 5 guys to get the tank moved. Started filling the tank back up and turned the power heads on to keep the water moving while I got the sump and piping all set back up. We started the rare down @ noon and the tank was running again by midnight but still a mess! Time flies when your having fun!

I put the old canopy back on the tank and started construction on the three side panels and drink rail. My goal was to have three panels that could come completely off for ease of access. So I bought some pine and a kreg jig and used pocket screws for all the joining of the lumber. Flushed some magnets into the stand and panels so they could just be pulled off and would stay in place.

Next I sanded and sanded and sanded before any pre treating and staining. Making sure all the edges where the boards met were up to par. In between hating sanding I built the canopy and got some light temp mounted.

How the tank sits as of now. Still need to finish up the canopy and a few other finishing touches but overall I am very happy. Adding the height to the tank made viewing a lot more enjoyable, you can pull up a chair, have a drink and enjoy the tank.
