Hey everyone!

I recently bought a 90g tank with stand for $80 on Kijiji.

I did my best with inspecting it, I foudn fully intact sealing (nothing bubbled or "cut away"), and found an issue with the bottom bracket of the tank. It is broken, one side was taped on, and it wasn't new, plus it was wet still with some gravel from being previously filled (his other tank was stocked with cichlids that looked really confused (no set territories)).

But to my question, do you think I'd be safe using the tank without the brace?

Thanks by the way!

Gotta have the brace, keeps the tank from bowing. Glasscages carry new tops.

You can fix the brace with acrylic. I have a 125 that I fixed a top brace on. Just cut the acrylic to fit and weld it together with WeldOn 40. Works awesome!

If we are going with the DIY side of things, just measure the insede dimension of tank front to back, get a piece of 1/4 glass cut and silicone it in place. Kinda like a Eurobracing.

OH okay, neato. Didn't think it would be that simple!

I am going to go with Madness' idea because I can get cut glass easy/cheap.

So, what you're saying... I should put the brace at the top, siliconed in the middle across and I am good to go? Sounds pretty awesome.

Thank you everyone btw for helping!

the bottom trim comes off easy thats not the case for the top trim, they use more selant on the top trim and I have chipped and or cracked tanks pulling it off, even when using a hair dryier to heat up the silicone so it stretches easier

you can order new trim for like $25-$30 just replace th bottom trim

You'd have to pull the top trim off, if your going to lay it across the top. What I'd do is get it inside the 2, front and back pieces, silicone it in place and use a bar clamp to hold it in place for 72 hours. This will bond the glass together. If done this way, you don't have to try and remove the trim on top.
Google Euro Bracing Aquariums, you will get it when you see the glass in the center.
