I have been in the hobby for quite some time. I have a 27 gal nano cube with a 20 gal sump. I just moved into my first home a month ago and the tang did very well in the move! I am no starting to add more and more corals.

I am having a problem with some corals not opening up all the way or losing color (gold torch, hammers). I am going to try and move them around in the tank to see if I can find a place that they like.

Here are a few pictures:

Please let me know if you see anything that could be improved or have any other ideas for the setup.

Welcome to R2R!!! My first reef tank was the first cube! It wasn't nearly as nice as yours and your sump is fat better than the one I had! Looks like you built that stand to hold an "upgrade"!!!

That cube will hold you over until then! Congratulations on the new home and life you are starting! For me tank upgrades are winter projects anyway, so you worked this out perfectly!

Here is a picture.

I also noticed the past couple days my green star polyps aren't opening.

And I'm getting some algae growing in my refuge.

I am new to having a refugium so not sure if that's normal or not.

Any ideas on what could be causing all this?

*Welcome to Reef2Reef @KCNano23 ! * I would bet money that your SPS coral pictured is being stung by a neighboring coral.Could be the trumpets, the mushroom or both. You should relocated these two. They both should be fine lower on the sand bed.It is strange that your star polyps are not opening up as these are usually bullet proof. My best guess would be lack of light, too much flow or not enough Nitrates in the system.
