Hello R2R, as most are in the same boat of needing approval to start a SW reef tank, I am no different. I got a great deal on a 110g tank, filter (FX6 canister), a 50” reef breeder, and two wave makers. I built my own stand complete with cabinets, and storage. I’ve completed my aquascape, now I’m just waiting for my sand (Caribsea Fiji pink) to be delivered. I just wanted to introduce myself as I will post some pictures once I get the sand. Lastly, know that I look forward to asking tons of questions, probably to the point of annoyance, and look forward to learning this great hobby!!

Welcome. Though it you dont put some pictures up I take back my welcome :)
I’ll have some up by this weekend. It’s going to look kinda sad though. Just rock and sand right now. I went with white live rock, I want to see the coralline algae grow (I’m weird).

Looks like a great start friend. Is your rock work bonded together in any way? Great job hiding the glue/epoxy if so. If not you may want to consider that before you get too much further along. In tank avalanches are not fun. Love the stand BTW.

+1 on that. I’ve had a tough time with my scaping, even with putty. One time the whole rockwork crashed down during a cleaning.

Welcome, by the way! You’ll love it here, lots of expert advice and knowledge! I learn something new every day! Have fun reefing!!

Thank you for the compliment, and yes, it is all bonded together minus one of the pieces that broke loose. I wasn't sure if the epoxy would cure, properly that is, in the water as opposed to out. The stand was pretty easy. I say that considering that one of my other hobbies is carpentry, and I have a small woodshop in my garage. That certainly helps.

I will admit that it took me about 4 hours of shifting, rotating, and moving the rocks to find the layout. I did mess up because I didn't wash the rocks off before using the putty, so my rocks didn't cure that well. I ended up use more than I should have, but I was able to hid it pretty well.

My experience is it cures well under water. I typically wet it a bit while I'm working with it.
That said, I am by no means an expert on the stuff.:)
