New yellow watchman goby.

Picked him up earlier today. He's a small guy, <1". Now, a few hours later, he's turned white. Is he going to die?

Not necessarily, I had one (my favorite fish ever) and it was always yellow, I went on vacation and when I got back it was white. I thought he was going to die so I did an emergency water change without even testing the water and he was fine

nah just his way of hiding out. will probably change back and forth a lot, mine did when he was new

He's a little stressed. Give him a little glass bowl of sand to sit and sift through. He'll be a little happier for it.

Alright, I added a small bowl of sand from my DT. Couldn't coax him into it but hopefully he finds his way in there.

He is just trying to 'blend in' to his surroundings, there isn't much in the tank. He will color back up once in the dt.

He is adorable! They change colors sometimes. My female turned this tanish color while the male stayed yellow. I wouldn't worry too much.

Grandpa is feeing much better today. Even ate a healthy sized dinner.

How big is your DT? I have 1 too and he is bigger. However, mine is staying at the bottom of the tank guarding his cave and does not get away much. I have to target feed the guy daily. I don't know how to keep him full when we go on vacation....!

It's a JBJ 45, so around 37 gallons in the display.

Not really. It's something you have to force on yourself. Just keep telling yourself, that it's worth it. I have terrible patience and have to keep myself busy enough not to have time to put them in the DT early.

He seems to be doing great, eating everyday. No signs of infection or parasite (that this very inexperienced person recognizes). His gill area is a little red, but perhaps this is normal? He is quite transparent, I think it's just because he is so young.

That doesn't look red to me, more pink. As long as he's eating and acting normally then I wouldn't worry too much. Keep an eye on that pink area to be sure it doesn't get worse. Hopefully your already feeding with vitamin supplements.... right?

I'm feeding new life spectrum pellets, and a bit of frozen food every couple of days. I have never read of vitamin supplements for them, school me!

Get vitachem or selcon and let food soak in it for 10mins or so then just feed to the fish.

Any fish in my QT get's vitamin supplements. And really most of the time I add them to my DT's food as well. It never hurts to add them in. I switch up the brands every so often because they tend to have variations in what they contain. It will help boost their immune system and if there is anything actually going on with the pink area there, this will help their immune system work it out naturally. I really dont think the pink part is an issue, but it wont hurt to add the vitamins.

Exactly right! These are two good and popular brands to get a hold of.
