Yes you can, but it doesn't mean you should... arrg right? Yea the api shows some ammonia too.
How did you acclimate? How long was the fish in the bag.

they are much hardier than other fish. Bottled bacteria, like Prime, Stability, Bio Spira will bring the ammoina down.

The bag floated for about 30 minutes then I added water every 10 minutes for about an hour

depending on how long the fish was in the bag and how much water is in the bag, the bag water builds up ammoina. You acclimated correctly. I usually do a little less time depending on those two factors.

Is that enough filtration? The water isn't like crystal clear like you see in these pictures of reef tanks. Idk how to fix that. Could that be causing ammonia, not enough filtration?

no thats dust, the bacteria will coat the sand. gross right?
What filters and such are you running? just a canister?

Yeah just the Fluval 306 canister with bio max, carbon, polishing pad, clearmax and the regular filter. It said good to 75 gallons. Mines 60. I've read you atleast want double?

Wait and/or add another layer of floss. bacteria will stick the stuff together.

We use a fluval 406 and fluval fx6 on our 125 g tank. No issues with filtration. When we first started, it took a few months for our tank to become nice and clear. Right now you should only worry about getting your tank cycled and keeping your ammonia down so you don't lose the clown fish. Ask a lot of questions here on R2R. I made the mistake of not researching information myself and trusting everything one LFS told me. We lost a lot of fish that I still feel guilty about. The people here on R2R are amazing. They are here to help and they don't belittle anyone for not knowing or for making a mistake. I love this forum.

Bio spira works well. Or a raw shrimp from the grocery store.

IMO a protein skimmer is a must.

First off it is far too early to add ANY fish. Let alone 3 and one being as demanding as a tang. Second, a tang should not be added to a tank so small. You need at least a few months of cycling even with live rock and live sand. I made the same mistake. You don't want to add fish till you see 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and minimal nitrate. Also, adding fish that quickly means that your bacteria in the rock can't keep up with the added bioload. You want to try to space out adding fish by at least a week or two to allow your tank to catch up with the new levels of fish poo and what not. The clowns are already in it so try to add some bottled bacteria and give it a month. Test constantly and when you have gone a week with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and below 20 nitrates you can consider adding one more fish. And please, no more tangs in that small tank. I know they are super cool but having a 29g myself I've found a lot of really cool fish
