My clowns used to be big jerks, but ever since I added the Melanarus Wrasse and the Foxface, they have calmed down. So much so that I don't fear getting bit by my female any longer and she would attack all the time. Jumped out of the tank once trying to get me.

I have a royal gramma. Pretty skittish fish but they will free swim after they feel comfortable. I would try clowns again. My first two were horrible and one ended up beating the other up so bad and he got sick and didn’t make it. The other i took my LFS. I got two others and they are awesome. Haven’t had an issue yet.

Firefish are cool but like the gramma are skittish until they are comfortable.

I would look into a goby or two. Hardy fish, easy to care for and fun to watch. A little skittish but they find cool perches to sit on. I’ll send pics of mine.

Add in some skunk cleaner shrimp too. They are fun to look at. Will keep your tank clean of uneaten food and can clean your fish if they are willing.

Your tank is good sized and you don’t have a ton of rock for bidding so you might have some trouble keeping fish that are looking for places to hide

The clowns never attacked my hands at all,
But they would swim up to my fingers when I would feed. However, I have had clownfish in the past that loved to bite. The bites were never painful, but it always caught me by surprise and scared me.

I was considering the lack of rock-work for them to hide in, which has been making it difficult for me to decide. I like clownfish because they are open-water swimmers, which is nice, but it’s kind of nice not having clownfish since I have always had them. I don’t know, maybe I will give them another try after the wrasses get settled in. I had also thought about a Lemon Damselfish because it would bring a beautiful yellow coloration into the aquarium.

The reason for the Lemon Damselfish is that they are supposedly peaceful and mild-tempered when compared to other Damselfish. Also, I like that they are hatched at ORA.

I started to fill the display to leak-test, and I had to make some changes to the leveling feet, which can be challenging since there are so many.

Yeah, I’m annoyed, but it’s the fault of the contractors that built the place. There’s ~1/4” slope from left to right and front to back.

I understand that frustration. Guys who built this house took every dang shortcut they could. Ripping up the carpet tomorrow and and worried about how bad the subfloor will look

I filled the remainder of the display tank to test for leaks. It was laborious since I had to carry buckets from the sink on the second floor.



Also, I explain a defect that I noticed in the self-leveling mat. I wouldn’t be worried about it if I had planned on using sand, but I plan to go bare-bottom.



I noticed an orange spot in the rear glass panel. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely noticeable if you know it’s there, which I do.

The display tank passed its leak test, so it was time to drain it.

I have no idea. I’m hoping that @Waterbox Aquariums responds to my email. I asked them a question about it in their sponsor forum here and in an email.

My Orange-Back Fairy Wrasse has been looking stressed lately, and it’s been lethargic. I noticed that my Exquisite Fairy Wrasse has been acting the same over the past two days. Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are undetectable. I did a five-gallon water-change this evening and they seem to be even more stressed.

I have no idea what would be causing them to act this way. There should be plenty of oxygen in the water since I use an air stone and two HOB filters, but the Exquisite Fairy Wrasse seems to be hanging out at the surface and it’s coloration is almost gone. I hope that I don’t wake up to it having passed.

Well, I performed a five-minute freshwater dip per the advice of @Humblefish. I didn’t see any flukes, so I started a copper treatment. I’ll be picking up a Hanna Checker tomorrow.

I see you using the black plastic clips during your water changes. I had a nut fall into my tank from one of those recently and found it in my sandbed, starting to rust. I now inspect those closely before and after I use them.
