Nicrew HyperReef 50 watt PAR Readings

I recently took some PAR readings of the Nicrew HyperReef 50W (Generation 1) light. My tank is 15 inches tall, and the light is mounted using the standard bracket that comes with it, placing the fixture about 23 inches above the sand bed.


The readings were taken using a Danoplus PAR meter, so take the numbers with a grain of salt. That said, the Danoplus readings should be fairly close to those from an Apogee PAR meter if your unit has the new factory calibration—which applies to devices purchased after August 1, 2025. ***According to the linked youtube video pinned comment***



Initially, I ran the light at 70% blue and 5% white, and while I did see some coral growth, the colors and growth rate noticeably improved when I increased the settings to 100% blue and 25% white. I’m currently experimenting with pushing the intensity a bit higher to see if I can get even better results.

How many gallons is the tank? If you have noticed better results at higher intensity, then I say crank it up. I feel many people underestimate how much light to give corals.

It is a 15 gallon innovative marine! And the light is a 50 watt, so my fear was that it’s a bit overpowered and don’t want to overdue it with the light.

It’s working great for me. I have it on for about 11 hours per day. I have 2 hours of sunrise and 2 hours sunset. I have it on 100 percent blue, 25 percent white. On the mount it comes with. And my tank is 15 inches tall. If you don’t have the controller to do the sunrise feature, I would just have it run on 100% blue and 25% white for about 10 hours. I have a lot of different range of corals doing well under this light. Including frog spawn, Zoe Antis, blasto, Acan, leather, mushrooms
