The number itself doesn't really mean anything unless you know the science behind it how it works. I really don't think OP knows would know what the results meant if he tried to test. He just knows how to do water changes...

If you're still testing your tank to know where it stands after 5 years... id guess you'd know or would have feel if anything is out of whack in your system. If my fish seem happy/corals are growing... all is good.
A six month old tank isn’t an established thriving reef, it’s very much still maturing. Also, pretty misleading to claim that testing isn’t necessary while leaving out the fact that you’re doing a 25% water change every other day in your original post.
Lol... dude. There isn't much science behind keeping a reef tank. I could easily throw on a lab coat bust out the kits and bill nye away.

Maybe try this… write down where you think your parameters are at… then test and see how close your eyeballs were. I agree that the first assessment is how things look, I didn’t say I don’t do that but a trend is also helpful to know. Even if things look good I’d test to see what that means scientifically.
Lol... would of been helpful had the right questions been asked. Instead I get a bunch of reef elitist with 100 gal tanks chime in like they know what they're talking about. It's JUST a reef tank lol... fish in a box with corals. If you can't keep them alive or get them to grow then idk... lol
This will be a satisfying ending, im usually pretty good at guessing endings of movies, I feel like this is a remake of a classic.
I have a lighting question can you share a picture in white light? In that extremely blue picture it doesn't look like any of your acros have any p.e I can tell the digi's do but hard to see anything in blue light..
