Now with two k7 minis
20240410_191731.jpg

Question to you all.
What color / intensity do you use, and how successful you are with coralline? I have zero growth even having parameters and multiple frags with it to spread.

This is my setup

This is mine. coraline grows fine when I am dosing heavily (AFR).

How do you like the diffusers?

I like them. Definitely necessary for me. My tank sits up high and my couch is low, so I was getting blinded, and not as much disco shimmer. These are the Alibaba ones. They have a very thin film as the diffusor material, like for photography, and not a plastic or acrylic hard material. PAR is about 285-325+ 3/4 of the way up, 150-185 mid way, and 70-100 at the bottom, at 80% blue/20% white. It’s significantly higher par if you go up in blue and or white, so it doesn’t reduce much light. The frame is a little small, so it cuts into the edge of the light trajectory, but nothing major.

Beautiful! Was thinking of running 6 over my new 96” tank with some quanta bars.
I've been very happy with them. I ran them on the 180 for over a year and everything thrived. I almost invested in new lights for the new tank then thought better of it and just bought an extra k7 for a backup. I may need some fill lighting later on the WB but am going to wait since all the rock work is getting coverage and I only have a few light demanding pieces. They are very good bang for the buck IMO. I'll never spend the money for radions again. I have a couple of gen 4 xr15 and the k7s smoke them a par comparison.

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?

  • Yes! I think it's important for the longterm health/growth of my coral.

  • Yes, but I don't find that it is necessary all the time.

  • Not currently, but I would like to.

  • No. I don't measure PAR and my corals are still healthy/growing.
