Merry Christmas everyone, i have been in the fresh and saltwater hobby for a couple years now I set up my reef about 2 months ago my first buy was a pair of blacker ice ocellaris and today I woke up and my female ocellaris was found on the floor in front of the tank :,( now the other looks so lost! I was wondering since they was a pair if I got another one would it pair or will it always stay unpaired?

Even if you are sure the one that's still in the tank is male, get the new one as small as you can find. One of them, probably the one you have, will become female and they should pair up.

Sorry for your Christmas Day loss! What a bummer!

The bigger the size difference between the 2 clowns to be paired, the easier and faster it happens. If closer in size then placing them in a small tank without much territory will force the pairing but there’s potential for more aggression until it gets sorted out.

That's such a bummer, not a merry Christmas present at all :(

I was in the same predicament. I bought as small a clown as I could find to match my remaining Onyx. Oddly they haven't paired or fought. They just co-exist in my 75 gal and continue to ignore one another.
