I didn't even think about internet websites for my questions until I had been in the hobby for over a year!

Same here buddy - I started in the mid 2000s trying both wet/dry filter and an under gravel..Good times. I wouldn't say I had an failure using these systems for saltwater, but learning, learning!

First sites that helped me out was Chuck's Addiction and Lionfish Lair for Hitchhiker IDs :).

I was lucky and found a great local club with a forum like we have here. It was very helpful to have lots of local tanks I could go see and take ideas from. I have some pretty strange concepts in my system build and they are all built on other peoples ideas. In particular, I love having my rockscape on a platform above the sand.
