Hi all
I've got some strange algae growing on a frag of Rasta zoa
I no clue as to what type , I was gonna Scrubs it with a toothbrush
It sort of looks like it's growing in sheets if that makes any sense
I've post all the pics I've took as some might be better than others
Thanks

Looks like it could be the beginnings of dictyota algae. I would remove the frag and scrub and remove the unknown from the frag. You can use a q-tip and some hydrogen peroxide applied to only the algae, avoid getting it one the zoanthids. Scrub clean in display water, rinse and repeat in display water and return.

Hard to say, most of the pics are too blue, but a few of them almost look like ulva. I had a few frags that grew some ulva leaves (is that the right term?) and I just plucked them off with some tweezers.

It could be dictoya or ulva, I'm leaning towards ulva. Either one, get it out of there as both can become a nuisance in the tank if uncontrolled.

You can always use a mild hydrogen peroxide dip, maybe 1/4 hydrogen peroxide to 3/4 tank water after removing physically what you can of the algae and that should kill off the rest of the algae. It'll tick your zoas off just a bit but they'll get over it if healthy.
