Good morning! Hope you're all doing well. I'm curious when buying a species of fish, why there's the option of what country it's from and why it differs in price. Are they generally more expensive the further they have to travel? Or is it a demand thing? Do they look different or behave different based on origin?

There are a lot of factors really. Distance and shipping are certainly factors, but there are others. Here are a few:

1. Local Regulations and Sustainability: Some countries have stricter regulations on fishing practices and sustainability, which can influence the price. Fish sourced from countries with sustainable practices may be more expensive due to the costs associated with ethical and environmentally friendly practices.

2. Genetic Variations and Appearance: Fish from different regions might have slight genetic variations, leading to differences in color, size, or fin structure. These variations can make fish from certain locations more desirable to collectors or hobbyists, influencing their price.

3. Health and Hardiness: Fish from certain regions might be considered hardier or more resilient, making them more attractive to buyers who want species that are easier to care for. This perceived hardiness can affect pricing.
