Anyone have experience with this fish? All day it has had this darkish pattern to it. Any ideas why? Is it normal?

Stress coloration (an attempt at camouflage). How long have you had it?
 
Definitely something stressing it, whether it be a tank mate or something internal. Did you QT prior to introduction?

I did not. Fish went right into the display so far it has been eating frozen and poop is normal. I did see my roseband postering with it. Would that have done it.

Yes, could very well be an issue.

So the fish still has this coloration 24/7. Its acting normal though and is probably the most aggressive eater in the tank. Very odd. It's more noticeable when the fish is actively hunting and lessens when it is swimming.
