Orphek OR2 blue bar broken??

I have two 48" Orphek OR2 blue bars over my tank, one of my bars only half is working. Anyone else ever experience this? is there a fix or does it need to be replaced. I've tried to reach out to Customer service twice with no response. Any help would be great thanks.

Believe for that size the diodes are run series/parallel in 2 strings. One of the strings failed "open".
Problem is the other string now gets full mA from the driver.. Lifespan is shortened..
What is the output listed on the driver?

It is cheap and easy to fix w/ soldering skills and a multimeter.

Yes due to the 5wt diodes

I have the same problem, took the light apart attempting to fix it and found no obvious problems. Can anyone tell me if it would most likely be a bad led? I tried every solder joint and no burn areas. I would like to fix it if possible

Could you give more info on this repair? I have the same problem and I took mine apart to fix it and found no loose solder joints and no leds look burnt. Any help would be appreciated

Well that is only 1/2 your problem atm.
You now have 2x the current going down the remaining 1/2.
You can find a dead diode using a digital VOM.

With the light off (and preferably unplugged) set the VOM to low ohms or diode.
Test each diode one by one on the dead channel.

You will of course need to remove the lenses (I believe) to get to the "ears" on the diode
Polarity matters check BOTH ways unless you figure out which side is always plus and which is always negative.

Once the dead diode is found either replace it or jumper over it.

There could also be a broken trace to ALL the diodes
Or a broken trace in-between diodes.

Between diode breaks could be found using the err"out" of one diode to the "out" of the next in line diode.

Anyways diodes will only light dimly.

I just ended up replacing mine.

Hey i get it. But for me it wasn’t worth the time to try and fix it. And if you dont do it correctly you’re buying a new one anyways. Unless its under warranty then they will sent you a replacement.
