I got my 120g up and running. I made a mistake with my overflow plumbing. My return plumbing is mint but where the water goes into my sump is wrong. I don’t know if it’s the tubing that came with my Eshop sump or it’s the length of the tubing but it makes a loud bubbling/ gargling noise .

Unfortunately I did not put a union on that side I cemented it and I really don’t know what to do from here either I somehow get a device that will cut above the gray and keep that PVC there and put a 1 inch union On it ,then straight pipe it straight down or put it into a T where I can utilize both of the holes on my sump . I also tried to put the gray to being more flats without a loop and still had issues

I’m frustrated at the moment and could really use some advice .

Part of the problem is I see on your Flex tubing that you have a loop in it. when the water goes to that Loop it finds a place to rest and it forms air pockets and then has more water comes through it pushes it through and that's causing your gurgling. your best bet, and it looks like it would be extremely simple to do, would be to hard pipe it all the way down to your sump with a gate valve to adjust it to be completely silent. you could do it with only a couple of fittings and a section of tubing. if you glued it though you may need new bulkheads but that's not a big deal either.

Thanks! What is a gate valve? Also I wonder were I can get a new bulkhead. What if I took a Electric cutter and cut the pvc right about the gray part? That would give me 1” total to install a union valve

Have you tried pulling that hose off of the PVC coming out of the bulkhead? It might be that the PVC cement did not bond the two dissimilar materials. If it did, you probably have enough pipe sticking out from the bulkhead to cement a union on there. I would hard plumb it to the sump.

If you're located in Michigan you can get all the parts right from bulkreefsupply I'll include a shopping list in this post for you. I assume it's a 1 inch drain.
(2) of these

One piece of this (I choose orange because I like orange, you may choose another color)

2 to 3 of these for easy disassembly and maintenance

And one of these

I included 90 degree bends and 45 degree bends as it's hard to tell from the picture how much offset there is from your drain to your sump input. I really hope this helps get you started in the right direction :)

Should this hole be covered with a plastic vent cap? Whatever you call them? Can’t a snail get in there

I just don’t understand the gate valve I can adjust the flow of my return pump why would I need a gate valve if I slow down the return to the sump won’t my return pump over flow my overflow section if that makes any sense

The gate valve is used to create a full siphon by creating a little back pressure so that no air gets in the system causing gurgling noise.

Ok, I have a corner over flow. It’s a Marineland tank. It’s different then your over flow. I still need a gate valve?

With any style of the Overflow whether it be the durso the Herbie or the bean animal it's recommended to have a gate valve on your main drain line to make easy adjustments to make the drain dead silent.

Thanks again for your help my local fish store said I should utilize both of these and make a T going into it is that necessary would it help with noise ? Or would it be double splashing because it’s an extra hole ?

If you only have a single drain I would just use the one

Cool. Makes is easier. Read up should I cover that hole in my return area?
If you want to cover it up just to keep stuff from getting in there you could take a small piece of pipe and then put a cap on it don't glue it in in case you ever want to utilize it later on down the road but just cut a small section of pipe push it in there and then push a cap on top of that
