I spent some time updating my photo journal for the aquarium today and thought I'd share some of the shots. The system continues to mature nicely - corals are coloring up and growing well. I would still like to add some more fish and need to connect some of the automation equipment I have laying around (still dosing by hand), but overall it's looking good for such a young tank.

I recently purchased a life-size (1:1) Macro lens (Olympus 60mm f2.8) and have been experimenting with it. I didn't get tight enough for many true macro shots, but love the close-focusing ability of this little lens!

First, some montipora frags and colonies

This Sunset Montipora is already pretty large and growing quickly!

I LOVE M. setosa and have high hopes for this little frag

This little M. capricornus is a nuclear green color!

When I began stocking corals in this system, I looked to ORA to supply a good start to the SPS collection. Their corals are colorful, quite hardy, and at least in the case of this shipment, very healthy. I already had several of their named corals and this order helped establish a pretty large collection of their best. There are still several that weren't available that I'd like to add though!

I didn't get shots of some of the others today, but will get them added soon...

  • Marshall Island Purple and Green
  • Blue Voodoo Stag
  • Joe the Coral
  • Laura's Purple Polyp
  • Purple Plasma Stag
  • Green Planet
  • Plum Crazy
  • Green Tip Pink Birdsnest (fast grower!)
  • Green Stylophora

Such a sweet setup man! How far/how man inches off the wall did you need for the overflow/plumbing clearance?? Looking at getting there 36x20x21 with the same tideline overflow but wondering how much space i need off the wall.

Thanks - you'll really like their workmanship. The ghost overflow is very narrow and plumbed through the bottom. A clearance of 6" to 8" from the wall will be enough for access. Mine is around 7" out ant could have been slid a bit closer. BTW thanks for the reminder- need to get an update up soon"

Looks great so far. I have a similar setup on the way- Planet Aquariums 5'x2'x2'. It will also be an SPS tank. Your thread has me excited to get everything up and going.

How's the tank doing? I'd forgotten about this thread and just did a final search to see if there were any recent posts on the 130. I'm actually heading to the LFS today to order the same tank after going back and forth between this and a Red Sea 525. I'm ordering with their external overflow. I hope mine turns out to look as great as yours!

Unfortunately, this setup has been taken down and sold. We made the decision to move in the near future and I didn't want to have to handle moving such a large system. I thought I could go tankless for a year ... that didn't last very long ;)! I have setup a standard 75-gallon to get me through my addiction for the next year and invite you to check out some of the coral growth in my new thread!
