Pacific purple sea urchin

So I have finally gotten frustrated with my urchin. It first ate on one of my new coral I got and ate some of it off and then recently I got a new mushroom and over night it choice to eat it off the plug and was sitting on top of another mushroom thankfully this one can curler up into the hole it grew into. But now I can out of my rare pink and orange mushroom. Has anyone else had this issue with this type of urchin ?

If you're talking about the pink/purple urchins found along the west coast I can't say I'm surprised. They scour the rocks so well they make sizable depressions. I've not had that issue with Gulf or Caribbean urchins. I would also think since we're talking about mushrooms some of the blame is misplaced. Muhrooms glued to frag plugs are likely going to let go and float off.

I search the tank the morning and couldn’t find it. I glued it very well but I’ll double check once I get home. It was just strange because he wouldn’t let go of the rock the morning when he was over on top of my other mushroom

Interesting - I don't think I've seen the green juvenile coloration of Strongylocentrotus purpuratus before this; neat.

I doubt most people keep these in their tanks, though, as they're not a tropical species and may not do well long-term in our tropical temperatures.

Oh wow I wanted the pink urchin as well but my LFS only sold the short spine urchin that is white with purple spikes.

My urchin does go over mushrooms and zoas but everything is alive and doesn't seem hurt.

Soooo updated it has eaten both of my new corals. Who wants it I’ll sell it to yah for a good price.
