I got a new to me tank that I'm setting up. The plastic trim is currently a dark oak color and I'd like to paint it black.

Any tips? Which kind of paint would you recommend?
Thanks!
Justin

Krylon fusion is your best bet if it's plastic.... I would recommend bulldog followed by some concept but that would be gibberish to ya unless your a painter haha...

Bulldog + SEM Color Coat would be tops IMHO. ;)

SEM Landau Black gives the exact appearance of cast black plastic.

Yes, Krylon Fusion is going to be your best option, unless you want to invest a little time, effort and $$ to go with high(er) grade automotive stuff. Satin/Semi-Gloss Krylon will give you the best looking finish, and be the closest looking to cast plastic.

Shhh don't want to derail the thread with custom painting haha!!!
Well, maybe he'll want to do some flames or pearl colors on his tank.. Color shift? Heck ya!

Are there any paints that I could apply with a foam brush? If so, I could paint the tank in the house and not have to worry about lugging it out to the garage and back...

All the roll on stuff will eventually peel and flake off. You can certainly use some of the generic rust-o-leum or off brand enamel paint that's found in the little can, but how long it will last is a mystery.
