I just ran a quick test for a freind of mine on my PAR 38's and was quite surprized so i thought i would share.
i know these numbers are available from nanotuners but till you see it for yourself its just not the same

SET UP:
2 PAR 38 lamps both 20K one with 60* optics and one with 80*
test height 24" through air (no water)
PAR meter and simple 12" x 12' paper to mark on

60*
10" circle 60
8" circle 80
5" circle 100
peak = 125

80*
10" circle 50
3" circle 60
peak 63

i was very surprized the difference that i observed and how little PAR the 80* optics put out at that height, i expected lower numbers of course but I thought what you lost in intensity you would gain in spread but you really don't
