Pectinia Sweepers

This is one of my favorite coral, but make sure you give it plenty of room to spread its wings. I have found the best placement is under a powerhead where it will lift the sweepers straight up instead of out to the sides. Unfortunately, It will nuke almost any coral it touches. Just a friendly tip if you chose to keep one of these magnificent creatures.

For scale, this colony is over 9" across.

Not an urban legend. Low flow will help, especially when it is small. That is where I kept mine for years. However as it grows so do the sweepers, and coupled with the maturation of the system, there isn't much real estate. So I am left with trying to control the direction of the sweepers instead of an ideal placement with regards to flow.

I've seen this at Troy's and it's bigger than it looks! Still trying to dial in the big frag he gave me. I burned it a bit :( It is such a nice coral!

Hey Todd ... the polyps are double the size of any common Xenia's. The main stem is thick and stands up like a miniature tree trunk. I may have an old picture back when it was at the lfs (2015)

For Texas Todd ... this picture of the Japanese Pumping Xenia was actually taken from my old 20 gallon temporary holding tank back in 2015 (lost almost entire livestock after 2013 major ice storm). Water parameter wasn't ideal & thus the funny little nubs around the stem. It has multiplied since then ...

Hey Troy V ... what does a Xenia fuge do anyways? My Xenias are exploding and really don't want it to populate the entire tank (if not controlled)
