Is that a normal hitchhiker? I know they’re filter feeders but are they a good or bad thing?feather duster
Thank you for the informationPersonally, I don't do much when I get feather dusters and they are common. They've never bothered my corals.
Yup, good filter feeder, leave it be :)Is that a normal hitchhiker? I know they’re filter feeders but are they a good or bad thing?
It’s weird I’ve never seen them before in my tank. I also saw something that looked similar to an Aptasia coming out of my elegance coral skeleton. I wish I took a photo of it but as soon as I saw it I put superglue all over it lol maybe it was a bit larger feather duster? IdkFeather dusters are common hitchhikers and can also be a good sign of a maturing tank. The few I had in my tank I never did anything with them.
Mine appeared almost overnight. Within a week I saw sponges, Coral Boring worms and feather dusters appear in my tank when before that there was nothing. It’s weird I’ve never seen them before in my tank. But this coral has been in the tank for months and never saw anything on it.I think it's very common to see things appear "out of nowhere" because the larval forms can be microscopic and tend to be very good at hiding because it's either hide or get eaten.
Thank youHere is a guide to common hitchhikers I commonly reference:

Feather dusters move around. You wouldn't think so, since they encase their body in a tube, but they really do.But this coral has been in the tank for months and never saw anything on it.
Medusa Worm might look like it has tentacles??Is there other pests that have tentacles similar to an Aiptasia but with fewer tentacles? Like 4 or 5 I think it has
lol a **** ton of super glue is good to close it off? It didn’t seem to move when I picked up the coralMedusa Worm might look like it has tentacles??
Probably will work but I've never tried. Either way, none of these pest are particularly bad. A lot of hitchhikers can be prevented by dipping -do you dip?lol a **** ton of super glue is good to close it off? It didn’t seem to move when I picked up the coral
I do dip everything in Bayre, H2o2 and potassium salts (reef primer)Probably will work but I've never tried. Either way, none of these pest are particularly bad. A lot of hitchhikers can be prevented by dipping -do you dip?
