Hi Russ265.
Fingers crossed they live.
What you've done sounds good but if possible I'd also add UV sterilization. Lets hope you've treated them in time. I've also tried surrounding the tank with pictures of the same tangs as they are schooling fish. Should claim them down to a point. All the best.

so a little of my thought process on this. once they hatch as dinospores... they have little chance of living in the column. unlike uv which those guys need to pass through at a slower rate to die.

just a lil jibjab your way to see what ya think

uv would clear up that bacterial bloom though eh?

Russ how much .ml of h202 are you using? Does the QT have h202?

if i were to dose. it would be an initial 2ml per gallon for a 1 hour dip. i need to observe the effects if i do it.

i know they can handle 1ml per gallon because i dosed it in my 300 display. nothing died.

if i saw stress though... id have to pull them early.

i havent done this yet because im mixing up 20 gallons of new rodi and topping off my 30 gallon ato i robbed from my system last night to get this 40 up and running.

on average with my booster pump it takes 30-40 minutes to get 5 gallons of ro water

i want to reiterate. the first 24 hours i only chaulk up to the freshwater dip.
please do not think i am disenfranchising you because i plan on other means to treat.

ime. a freshwater dip for 10 minutes grants me 24 hours.

that is the ONLY thing that we have here. the copper sulfate just prevents larvae or spores to reinfect.

i am repeating this again... it is only because of the fresh water dip that i have a little bit of wiggle room here.

Following along...Good luck! I commend you sir! See how this turns out...you may inspire many others to do the same, because we've all seen those "next to death" fish in Petco

I tried getting the local Petco to let me rescue a couple hippo tangs that were covered in Velvet, but they decided they would rather let them die than discount them to someone with actual QT tanks.

Why would Petco have 2 purple tang? I can't even have them order locally.

My Petco at Penn State gets them too sometimes. They come at $200 a pop and they immediately do 50% off since they said they never sell and just get sick and die. They don't order them either they just arrive without notice. Such a waste.
Good luck with the treatment!

angie called the favor in. i need to talk to nicki because im tired of that frag tank looking like trash all the time.

i plan on going over there saturday morning and offering my service and advice for free. im just tired of seeing their stuff die. i even offered spare equipment of mine.
