I have a new tank 6 weeks old. Been monitoring everything closely and the cycle took a little while but it finished 3 weeks ago. I have been slowly adding things to the tank started with 2 clowns then add some clean up crew (4 small hermit crabs 2 snails, 2 emerald crabs, tiger conch snail) coral (a hammer). 2 days ago I added 3 paly, and a torch, and a brain coral (all coral has been frags on plugs) everything has been fine till I tested today and my ph is down from 8.4 to 8.1 every thing else is right where it's supposed to be
Ammonia 0
Nitrite .01
Nitrate is still falling from cycle 5
Alkalinity is up from 3.5 to 4.5
All tested with a seachem salt water test.

Is this normal for ph to fluctuate a little?

Yup. Completely normal.
Extreme lows and extrem highs and very large swings are waht you would be concerned by.

Ok thank. was a little nervous lol
Yup. Been there too.

Once in a great while I'll test first thing in the am. Just before lights out and as later after the lights are off as I can stay awake.
Just for curiousitys sake.
