I was doing some searching for copepods idea for my mandarin goby. Came across the phyto tank. Is it useful or a waste of time?

Depends on what you are trying to achieve. I have a mandarin goby in my 55 gallon, so I dose 3 phytotank bottles a week full of pods. I have a 4th to make phyto. You will need to make phyto if you plan on culturing pods.

It will absolutely be cheaper in the long run to culture yourself, if you need to dose frequently.

But I also have to advocate for Poseiden Reef Systems because the owner is a great guy and stands behind his product. I had one failed after a year and no questions asked, he sent out a replacement. Plus he has the phyto and pod culture guarantee. You will have crashes with both your phyto and your pods (moreso phyto). So having that guarantee is great.

Before I order the phytotank from brs where do I find the starter culture packs? I can’t seem to find them
