Does anyone know what this is about? colony of pink lemonade directly from tyree has never grown much but started taking off lately but growing a completely different type of coralite out of the middle of the encrusting base colony. Anyone seen this before? hard to get a good picture but it gives you the idea. its a different shade of green too

in my experience pink lemonade tends to appear to have smooth branches on new frags. Normally these branches do not grow much but after encrusting the plug the lemonade sends off new branches with more developed corallites. I think this may be what you are experiencing

It kinda appears to me that your tank has gone through periods of being unhealthy causing slow growth...basically stunted the growth (you can tell because of the rounded tips). My guess is its a little more happy now and starting to grow...the new growth has better color.

yup, you had an extremely stunted coral that has finally taken a liking to whatever you are doing and now you are seeing the color, growth and structure that you should be seeing.
