I have heard they make great algae eaters.
Are they reef safe?

If it is a Crown, absolutely not... like said above, it will go after snails and clams.
Thanks everyone, its in my local tank and controls my algae in that tank.
I'm amazed how fast it is. This conch hasn't eaten my clams, and I didn't have any snails.
My local tank started out reef safe, but quickly turned eat or get eaten.
