Poll: Do you have a clam in your reef or not? If not what is your reasoning?

love clams!!

had this one (crocea) for about a year and a half now:


had this one (maxima) for probably 3 months until it kicked the bucket one day for no apparent reason:

No, do not know if I will get one or not, I have always heard bad things happen when spawning events occur, and it scared me away from them a bit

I have one maxima. A little guy about 2 in.

I don't have any clams but have always wanted one but never had good enough lighting for one till now I think. Running led lights. But still leary because I hear about some of the really bad hitchhikers that come on them and kill them and you can't dip clams to get ride of unwanted pest.

i have three derasa clams rigt now and thinking about getting another from a local reefer its around a foot long,just trying to figure out where i could put it.

Very nice, I think your Derasa is actually a Squamosa.

Yeah, Derasa's don't have scutes on the side of the shell, it's definitely a Squamosa.

I have my crocea clam on a rock that is a slight dish shape so it can't fall off. It attached to this rock so I can move it around when necessary. I believe Maxima's also like to be on rocks but you should make sure the clam you choose won't outgrow your rock or be pushed shut.

The ones I like are cost prohibitive at this point. Will add many clams as funds become available.

Got me a new clam after my last one was killed by an angle fish. New one os located in my smaller tank now and nice and healthy[
